From The Homestead to Hawaii, couples golf is on the rise. In all price categories and a variety of locations, golf courses, resorts, golf associations and tournament organizers are finding that couples events are popular, and in some cases sell-outs. For many participants the reason is fun, and for a few, it's all about the competition.
Barb Hanson, president of the Minnesota Women's Golf Association, Edina, falls into the latter group. The Minnesota Golf Association sponsors an annual Mixed Team Championship.
"There are two divisions, husband/wife and mixed team," Hanson explains. "It's a two-day event. The first day is four-ball, the second is Chapman format, which is a variety of alternate shots. This is a very competitive tournament in Minnesota." Read more here.
